Security agencies in Jharkhand have successfully detained Ravindra Ganjhu, the Maoist regional commander who has been a prime target for more than a decade. Ganjhu operated across Latihar, Gumla and Lohardaga districts, and police records attribute more than fifty offenses to him, including murder, robbery, extortion and orchestrating major Naxal attacks. The 22 November 2019 attack on a police convoy that resulted in four fatalities is also believed to have been planned by him. The seizure of firearms and ammunition during the raid is expected to aid ongoing investigations into the broader insurgent network.
