Protest Against Liquor Shop | On Thursday, the villagers took to the road demanding the closure of a foreign liquor shop near Harisai village in Kharsawan in Seraikela-Kharsawan district. The angry people blocked the Seraikela-Kharsawan main road near Burudih ROB (Railway Overbridge) for about two hours. The villagers said that without giving information to the Gram Sabha, an English liquor shop has been opened near Harisai village. A memorandum was given several times to remove the liquor shop. But no action was taken from the administration. The shutter of the shop dropped from the villagers demanding the removal of the liquor shop from the village. After this, the police and administrative officials reached the village and understood the people and removed the road jam.
Village atmosphere is deteriorating from liquor shop: villagers
Villagers said that the atmosphere of the village is deteriorating due to the liquor shop. People are openly drinking bad roads. Incidents of teasing have increased. The women of the village are feeling insecure. Villagers said that if the liquor shop is not permanently removed, he will agitate in a phased manner. Said that there are no schools and Anganwadi in the village, but liquor shops are being opened. Village head Shivshankar Hembram, Rajendra Rai, Neelkanth Nayak, Praveer Singhdev, Manoj Soy, Turam Boypai, Parvati Hembram, Mamta Hembram, Sukurmani Hembram, Nagen Soy, Bhavani Mahato, Sulo Nayak, Mecho Banra, Sujata Hambram were present on the occasion.
Traffic from jam interrupted
The villagers blocked the road from 10.15 am on Thursday morning near Burudih ROB of Seraikela-Kharsawan main road demanding the removal of liquor shop. People from Mahlisai, Deoli, Burudih, Beganadih, Gojudih, Potka, Bandih, Hansda, Simla, Kolsimla village had arrived with placards in the road jam. Performing on the road, Burudih jammed near ROB. This led to a long queue of vehicles on both sides of the road. Only school buses were allowed to go. On receiving the information, SDPO Sameer Savaiyan, Inspector Nitin Kumar, BDO Pradhan Majhi, CO Captain Sinku, Police Station Incharge Prakash Kumar reached and heard the talk of the people. The administration assured the action and got the traffic restored smoothly by removing the road jam in about 12.15.
