Villagers Alleging Corruption Protests Water Shortage in Dhanbad

Severe allegations of financial irregularities and administrative apathy surfaced during a mass protest in Dhanbad on Thursday. Villagers from Gopalpur Panchayat, frustrated by the ongoing water shortage, staged a demonstration at the ECL Colony gate. Sapan Nag, the husband of the local Mukhiya, demanded a high-level probe into alleged scams involving cleaning and maintenance contracts worth crores of rupees. He claimed that while development projects are recorded as completed on paper, the ground reality is marked by dry taps and dilapidated roads. The protesters stated that funds meant for public welfare have been diverted, leaving the common man to suffer in the heat without drinking water. The lack of accountability from ECL Mugma area management has led to a total breakdown of trust between the villagers and the corporation.
