Tribal Hostel Students Urged to Promote Eco and Legal Awareness
At the tournament launch, Minister Shilpi Neha Tirkie stressed that the responsibilities of hostel residents extend beyond textbooks.
She highlighted the need to protect water sources, forests and lands that sustain tribal villages, urging students to act as guardians of their natural surroundings.
The minister also called on students to take part in Gram Sabha meetings, understand the provisions of the Panchayati Raj system and become aware of their constitutional and legal rights.
These points echo Dr. Karma Urang’s own advocacy for ecological balance and legal empowerment as a foundation for community progress.
The message was delivered before 28 hostel teams, with Veer Budhu Bhagta Atma Hostel-A’s 2-1 win over Yaduvansh Hostel marking the opening fixture.
Among the attendees were community leaders such as Shanti Urang, Rama Khalkho, Lakshmi Narayan Munda, Shiva Kachhap, Neeraj Bhokta, Professor Hari Urang and Sheetal Urang.
The minister’s call to action expects students to become change agents in their villages, promoting sustainable livelihoods and informed citizenship.
