Tonto Police Arrest Couple in West Singhbhum Youth Murder Case

Police in Jharkhand's West Singhbhum district have detained a man and his wife in connection with the killing of a young man in Tonto police station limits. The victim was allegedly killed after a dispute linked to alleged misconduct towards the woman. Officers are now probing the case to determine the exact cause of the crime.

The incident was reported from Tensera Loapi village. The deceased has been identified as Joel Hembram. Investigators say the trouble began on Tuesday night, when Joel's sister-in-law, Suru Kui, was home alone. It is alleged that Joel behaved indecently with her, and she resisted his advances.

Her husband, Tidius Hembram, reached home during this confrontation. He reportedly saw his younger brother engaged in inappropriate behaviour with his wife. Overcome with anger, he allegedly assaulted Joel with an iron rod and a wooden tool from the house, striking him repeatedly on the head.

Joel succumbed to his injuries. Afterwards, the accused couple allegedly left the body inside a closed room and walked away, which kept the crime hidden for a time.

Neighbours grew concerned on Thursday morning after noticing a foul odour from the house and alerted the authorities. Tonto police arrived and found the body inside the premises. The remains were sent for postmortem examination.

Officers also collected a bloodstained iron implement and a wooden tool from the crime scene. Tidius Hembram and Suru Kui have been taken into custody and are being questioned. Police say the probe will rely on forensic material and other evidence found at the scene.
