Technical investigation leads to arrest of 13‑phone thief

A multidisciplinary police team in West Singhbhum used technical expertise to crack a mobile‑theft case involving eight laborers. The investigation, initiated after a formal complaint on August 25, focused on phones that vanished while charging overnight.

The technical wing retrieved call logs, IMEI numbers and location data, narrowing the search to a suspect operating near the Jamda Bus Stand. On August 26, the raid team secured the suspect’s residence and seized thirteen mobile phones – a mixture of touchscreen and keypad models.

Matching the recovered devices with the complaint confirmed that several phones were directly linked to the stolen batch. The accused, identified as Vikas Prasad, admitted his involvement during interrogation and has been placed under judicial custody.

Police officials praised the seamless cooperation between on‑ground officers and cyber‑forensics units, stressing that such synergy is crucial for solving property crimes in rural districts.
