SWSM Executive Meeting to Accelerate Jal Jeevan Mission, Discussion on Departmental Summit Preparations

Ranchi. A meeting of the executive committee of the State Water and Sanitation Mission (SWSM) was organized on Thursday to prepare for the proposed departmental summit under the Jal Jeevan Mission. The meeting was chaired by the departmental secretary, Mr. Abu Imran. Various important issues related to the effective and time-bound implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission were discussed in detail during the meeting. Key agendas included timely execution of water structure projects, 'Catch the Rain' campaign, sustainability of drinking water sources, and operation and maintenance of rural water supply schemes. In particular, a deep discussion was held on the sustainability of drinking water sources and the operation and maintenance of rural water supply schemes. Emphasis was placed on strengthening mutual coordination by clarifying the roles and responsibilities of various departments for the successful implementation of these issues. Furthermore, the need to develop a concrete strategy to ensure the long-term availability of water sources in rural areas and the continuous operation of water supply schemes was stressed. Representatives from the Panchayati Raj Department, Water Resources Department, Information and Public Relations Department, Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Cooperation Department, and Women and Child Development Department participated in the meeting. Additionally, WASH experts from UNICEF were also present. It was decided in the meeting that the goals of the Jal Jeevan Mission would be advanced more effectively through the departmental summit, and by establishing better coordination among various departments, the availability of 'Har Ghar Nal Se Jal' (tap water in every household) in rural areas would be made sustainable and of quality. Officials including Engineer-in-Chief, Chief Engineer, PMU officials, Chief Engineer (CDO), Deputy Director-1, State Coordinator, and other officers from the Drinking Water and Sanitation Department also attended the meeting.
