Student Leaders Demand Answers as Hunger Strike Marks Seventh Day

The JPSC-JSSC paper leak controversy has drawn sustained attention in Jharkhand, with students maintaining a protest camp for over two weeks. On the seventh day of their indefinite hunger strike, leaders paid tribute to martyr Nirmal Mahato.

MLA Jairam Mahato joined the cause, announcing a one-day Nirgala fast that will start at 6 a.m. on August 9 at the historic assembly premises. His participation signals growing political support for the demonstrators.

State officials, including Minister Sanjay Yadav, have scheduled another dialogue session for Sunday noon, aiming to bridge the impasse. Earlier negotiations at the Morabadi Guest House involved ministers meeting a student team.

The student delegation presented a list of demands, reinforced by factual evidence, but the discussion concluded without any binding decision. The government has invited the group to continue talks.

Minister Deepika Pandey Singh appealed directly to Devendra Nath Mahato, urging an end to the hunger strike while assuring that a positive resolution will soon be communicated.
