Sports and youth portfolio gets new funding and athlete support scheme
The Sports and Youth department received a thorough evaluation. The Chief Minister insisted that Jharkhand's medal‑winning athletes should not be forced to seek alternative jobs due to financial constraints. He ordered the creation of a database of all national and international medalists and announced special incentive schemes for financially weak sportspeople.
A review of the Mega Sports Complex at Sports Village highlighted the need for better maintenance, transparent financial management, upgraded player facilities and enhanced coaching support. The CM also directed officials to draft a detailed proposal for establishing a Sports University in the state.
Furthermore, he urged the invitation of eminent athletes and coaches from across the country to conduct exposure visits for Jharkhand's players and trainers, thereby raising the overall standard of performance.
