Special Salary Package for Jharkhand Govt Employees Tied to Bank MoU

Ranchi: An effort to modernize financial accessibility for public sector workers culminated in Wednesday’s signing of a strategic memorandum between the Jharkhand finance department and Union Bank of India. Chief Minister Hemant Soren inaugurated the agreement at the Project Bhavan in Ranchi. The initiative will immediately uplift nearly 1.75 lakh government staff by granting them a tailored salary structure accompanied by upgraded financial services and protective benefits.

Outlining the state’s financial vision, Chief Minister Soren pointed out that Jharkhand’s tribal-majority character demands dedicated attention from the banking sector. He made it clear that the advantages of this corporate-government alliance should cascade down to economically weaker sections, remote villages, and historically underserved groups. He noted that tribal families operate under specific socio-economic pressures, requiring coordinated support to fortify household finances and enhance daily living conditions.

Honoring the state’s revolutionary past, including the pivotal roles played by freedom fighters such as Birsa Munda against colonial rule, the CM linked historical resilience with modern economic progress. He insisted that empowering tribal and rural demographics must be a continuous governmental focus. With existing state schemes already channeling loans to young entrepreneurs for self-employment, he urged banking partners to accelerate loan processing. Streamlined lending, he stated, will directly aid rural youth and micro-entrepreneurs in initiating commercial ventures.

The newly operationalized framework equips employees holding salary accounts with Union Bank of India with an extensive suite of financial protections and conveniences. Beneficiaries will receive accidental death insurance, substantial monetary relief in cases of permanent or temporary disability, and critical care transport including air ambulances. Furthermore, the deal provides preferential pricing on personal, housing, and auto financing, along with fee-free debit cards and comprehensive internet banking capabilities.

Dignitaries including Minister Radhakrishna Kishore, Chief Secretary Awinash Kumar, and Secretary Prashant Kumar joined the event. Union Bank officials, led by Zonal Head Guna Chandr Gami and Ecosystem Head Ranjeet, also participated. Concluding the proceedings, Chief Minister Soren praised the bank’s employee-centric strategy and reaffirmed that bolstering citizen wealth remains a primary policy objective. He voiced strong expectations that the bank will progressively widen its outreach to encompass the general population, cementing long-term economic stability across the region.
