Special Election Camps Under SIR‑2026 Scrutinized

The Deputy Commissioner, Mr. Javed Hussain, carried out an on‑site inspection of the Special Intensive Review (SIR)‑2026 election camps set up at polling stations throughout the district on Saturday. The review assessed the availability of voter amenities, the structure of the draft voter list, and the processes for filing claims and objections.

The tour included polling stations 239, 240, 241, 245 and 246 in the Murahu area of the 60‑Khunti Assembly segment, as well as station 113 in the 59‑Torpa segment. He directed the Returning Officer, Booth Level Officers and related staff to ensure that every voter entering the camp receives accurate information about SIR‑2026 and the assistance they may need.

Individuals who have reached the age of 18 can now submit Form‑6 to be added to the electoral register. Households with members listed at different booths may file Form‑8 to consolidate all family entries at a single polling station.

The provisional voter list was made public on 5 August, and a claim‑and‑objection period is open until 4 September 2026. The Deputy Commissioner emphasized that Booth Level Officers must handle all received claims within the prescribed timeframe.

SIR‑2026 special camps will be operational on 8‑9 August and 22‑23 August, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Present during the inspection were Sub‑Divisional Officer Deepesh Kumari, Additional Election Officer Lalan Kumar, and other election personnel.
