SIT Probe Uncovers Murder Plot by Bride and Boyfriend in Rain‑Soaked Jharkhand Village

A Special Investigation Team (SIT) in Deoghar district has unveiled a meticulously planned double murder that unfolded in the rain‑driven night of June 29‑30, 2026. The investigation centered on Shabana Khatun, a 19‑year‑old bride, and her boyfriend Irshad Ansari, who together plotted to eliminate two family members who opposed their illicit relationship.

According to the SIT’s report, Irshad, unable to travel due to torrential rain, remained at his home and issued step‑by‑step instructions to Shabana via phone. Acting on his commands, Shabana used a wooden axe stored in the house to slit the throats of her mother‑in‑law Rubeda Khatun and her brother‑in‑law Chotu. Unsatisfied, she then struck both victims with a hammer, causing severe head injuries that ensured death.

Technical evidence, including mobile call detail records (CDR), placed Irshad on the line with Shabana during the precise time of the killings. Forensic examinations recovered the blood‑stained axe, hammer, and garments, all of which were sent to the lab for DNA verification. The SIT also traced the couple’s digital footprints, confirming their coordination and the premeditated nature of the crime.

Shabana’s marriage to Shahil Ansari, a resident of Navadih, had taken place only three months earlier. Shahil’s employment in another state left Shabana free to continue an affair with Irshad, a resident of Palajori police station area. When Rubeda and Chotu became aware of the relationship and started interfering, the couple chose violence as their solution.

The swift arrest of both suspects within 24 hours highlights the efficacy of coordinated police response, digital forensics, and community cooperation in addressing violent crimes in Jharkhand.
