The Singhbhum Sports Association ground in West Singhbhum (Chaibasa) has been reopened, ending the previous impasse. The administration removed the seal on the ground on Wednesday, leading to a wave of happiness among the players who arrived for practice. The closure followed instructions from Deputy Commissioner Chandan Kumar on Tuesday, who, under the National Sports Development Code of India 2011, had terminated all the ground’s recognitions and sealed it. This action was carried out in the presence of officials including Sub-Divisional Officer Sandeep Anurag Toppo and Sub-Divisional Police Officer Bahaman Tuti. Upon arriving for their daily practice, players were met with locked gates and seals, sparking outrage. They emphasized the lack of alternative practice grounds in the city and criticized the decision to seal the entire ground instead of the association office. Many players also expressed concern about their preparations for the upcoming Home Guard recruitment. Information about the situation reached Mithilesh Kumar Thakur, the General Secretary of the Singhbhum Sports Association and a former MLA, who then informed the relevant officials. Understanding the players’ concerns, he spoke to the Deputy Commissioner and secured instructions to reopen the ground. The Sub-Divisional Officer confirmed that a meeting is scheduled for June 14 to discuss all related issues.
