Simdega Veteran Politician Vimla Pradhan Succumbs to Liver Complications

Simdega, Jharkhand — Long‑time BJP figure Vimla Pradhan, a two‑time MLA from Simdega, passed away on Friday evening around nine o’clock while under treatment for liver disease. The 69‑year‑old former minister had been grappling with serious health issues for several months, including a recent stay in Hyderabad for advanced care.

Elected first in 2009 and re‑elected in 2014, Pradhan served in the state cabinet where she oversaw several key departments, earning respect for her focus on rural development and women’s empowerment.

After returning home from Hyderabad, her health declined, prompting an admission to Medanta Hospital. Following a short period of improvement and discharge, she was again hospitalized at Samford Hospital as her condition rapidly worsened.

She leaves behind a husband and three sons. Party leaders and local residents have expressed their sorrow, acknowledging her contribution to Simdega’s political landscape and her dedication to public service.
