Deoghar/Ranchi: Secretary of the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation, Mr. Abu Imran, in a district-wise detailed review of the progress of drinking water schemes being implemented under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) and Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) in all six districts of Santhal Pargana division—Deoghar, Dumka, Godda, Sahebganj, Jamtara, and Pakur—at the Deoghar Collectorate, clearly instructed that all concerned departments should establish mutual coordination, resolve the problems arising, and ensure that the remaining work is completed within the stipulated time frame under all circumstances.

Secretary Mr. Abu Imran instructed under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) to celebrate the upcoming October 2 as 'Jal Arpan Diwas' and to complete the work of 'Har Ghar Jal' certification for all completed schemes on a highest priority basis. Along with this, he asked to complete all drinking water schemes in a time-bound manner and to pay special attention to checking the quality of water during water supply. He directed that strict action be taken as per rules against agencies and contractors showing laxity or negligence in work. In view of the safety of water sources, he issued a strict order to completely stop any kind of mining and sand extraction around the intake well. Apart from this, it was discussed to expedite the process of obtaining pending NOCs (No Objection Certificates) from various departments, SNS SPARSH Onboarding, Sujal ID Creation, and to settle pending cases quickly. Emphasis was placed on increasing the collection of water charges for the smooth operation and better maintenance of schemes, and instructions were given to establish necessary coordination with the electricity department and to create Consumer IDs to ensure uninterrupted power supply.

During the review meeting, several important instructions were also issued under the Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin), including launching a special campaign to increase the number of 5-Star ODF Plus villages to make rural areas clean and beautiful. Under this, instructions have been given to declare villages under PM-JANMAN, Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana, and aspirational areas as 5-Star ODF Plus on a priority basis. The Secretary asked to expedite the process of toilet construction and their approval and to complete the physical verification work of villages already declared ODF Plus as soon as possible. To make villages completely plastic-free, a large-scale public awareness campaign will be conducted, and proposals will be compulsorily passed in all gram sabhas to completely ban single-use plastic.

In this review meeting, Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Magistrate Mr. Saurabh Kumar Bhuwaniya, Deputy Development Commissioners of Deoghar, Dumka, Godda, Sahebganj, Jamtara, along with senior officials of the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation, all Superintendents Engineers, Executive Engineers of all concerned districts, and other departmental officials, officials of the concerned agencies were mainly present.
