Shocking Case in Saraikela: Woman Accuses Cop at Police Station
A shocking case from Saraikela district in Jharkhand has put the police force under the spotlight. A woman who went to a police station hoping for justice has accused a policeman stationed there of rape. The alleged incident took place within the Gamharia police station premises. After the woman's complaint came to light, the police department moved quickly, and the accused policeman has been detained for questioning.
The woman is a resident of the area under Gamharia police station. She had approached the police with a complaint about a family dispute and an alleged assault by her husband, pleading for justice and safety. Since it had grown late, the police reportedly provided her with a room within the station compound to stay in for the night.
The woman has claimed that a policeman on duty came to her room late at night, threatened and frightened her, and forced himself on her against her will. She has said that she protested the alleged obscene actions, but was allegedly subjected to force anyway. The next morning, she told other policemen at the station what had happened, and the matter was then reported to senior officers. She has urged authorities to take strict action against the accused policeman.
Saraikela SDPO Anubhav Bharadwaj led a police team to the Gamharia police station after learning about the case. He inspected the scene and got the room where the alleged incident occurred sealed. Police are gathering necessary evidence from the room. The accused policeman has been detained, and he is being thoroughly questioned about the case.
At this stage, the rape allegation against the policeman has not been officially confirmed, and the police are probing the matter. The central question remains whether the woman's claims hold up, particularly as the alleged incident happened in a police station where she had come seeking security.
