Santali Film ‘Aangen’ Wins Major Award, Highlights Jharkhand’s Film Prospects

The Santali-language film “Aangen” has captured a top national award, drawing attention to Jharkhand’s growing cinematic potential. Chief Minister Hemant Soren cited the film’s success as evidence that the state houses many undiscovered creative voices. He announced that the Jharkhand Film Development Corporation, together with SRFTI, will now channel resources to refine such raw talent.

Soren stressed that the new platform will offer hands‑on training, state‑of‑the‑art equipment and exposure to industry experts, ensuring that future projects can match the technical standards of award‑winning productions. He also referenced other notable films shot in Jharkhand, including “Dil Bechara,” “MS Dhoni: The Untold Story,” “GangsofVasepur” and a Bollywood feature starring Amitabh Bachchan that was filmed in Dhanbad.

The government’s commitment aims to transform stories from the hills and tribal districts into market‑ready content, creating employment opportunities for directors, cinematographers, editors and support staff across the region.
