From Life Sentence to Arrest: Rocky Yadav’s Turbulent Legal Saga Continues
The legal odyssey of Rocky Yadav, the son of Bihar BJP MLA Manorama Devi, has taken another turn. Following a violent encounter between his private guards in Chatra, Jharkhand, Rocky was apprehended by local police on accusations of facilitating a murder and misusing official security resources.
The shoot‑out unfolded outside the superintendent’s residence when Rocky arrived to discuss a levy imposed on his construction firm, which is overseeing a Rs 128‑crore bypass road project. During his meeting with the SP, his two personal guards clashed, resulting in Balveer Singh fatally shooting his partner Atul Kumar Singh. Balveer was arrested immediately; Rocky was subsequently detained for questioning.
Investigators uncovered that, despite claims of a government‑assigned bodyguard accompanying Rocky, state records show that no such allocation existed for him. Four security officers are documented as serving his mother and the Belaganj MLA, suggesting a possible illegal appropriation of official personnel.
Rocky’s past is marked by serious criminal allegations. In 2016, a trial court sentenced him to life imprisonment for participation in the Aditya Sachdeva road‑rage killing in Gaya. The Patna High Court later set aside that verdict in 2023, citing insufficient evidence. More recently, he surfaced in a 2024 NIA investigation linked to the arrest of DCP Ajay Pratap Singh.
Balveer Singh, the surviving guard, claimed that the deceased was constantly demanding “khaini” and troubling him, which allegedly triggered the shooting. Authorities have not accepted this explanation as conclusive, especially after discovering treatment records for a mental health condition.
The ongoing investigation focuses on the chain of command, weapon procurement, and potential abuse of a government‑assigned bodyguard. Officials promise a comprehensive conclusion that will assign accountability for the homicide and the security irregularities surrounding Rocky Yadav.
