Regional Weather Outlook: From Himalayan Peaks to Southern Coasts, Oct 3-8
A detailed outlook for the next six days shows a varied picture across India.
In the Himalayan belt, states such as Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand will face strong downslope winds of up to 50 km/h, with heavy rain expected in valleys like Nainital and Rishikesh. Jammu & Kashmir’s higher altitudes will also see rain and wind, especially around Kathua and Baramulla.
Moving east, Assam, Sikkim and the adjoining regions of the Bay of Bengal are experiencing a cyclonic circulation at the lower troposphere, fostering scattered thunderstorms. West Bengal’s coastal districts, including Nadia and Darjeeling, are under a wind warning of 55 km/h.
The central belt, covering Madhya Pradesh, will see gusty rain showers in districts such as Indore and Bhopal, where temperatures may dip to 21 °C at night. In the peninsular south, the coastal stretch of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Lakshadweep will be hit by heavy rain and wind speeds exceeding 60 km/h, extending through October 8.
Overall, the monsoon is expected to withdraw gradually, with scattered showers persisting in the northeast and western mountain ranges.
