Ranchi Robbery: Cousin-in-Law Loots Flat, Spends Lakhs on SUV

A high-profile theft case in Jharkhand's capital has taken a dramatic turn, revealing how a relative's greed led to a massive robbery. A woman residing in Ranchi's Lalpur locality lost valuables worth nearly 60 lakh rupees after her cousin-in-law, whom she trusted implicitly, decided to rob her home. According to the police, the accused, Harsh Kumar Singh, used the stolen wealth to fund a lavish lifestyle, which included the purchase of a second-hand XUV car and expensive gifts for his associates. The victim, Veena Vibha Kumari, had handed over the keys to her apartment to Harsh before leaving for Patna on May 22. When she returned a week later, she was met with a scene of devastation. Valuables including diamond rings, platinum tops, and 40,000 rupees in cash were gone. The Ranchi police acted swiftly, tracing the movement of the accused and his friends through technical surveillance and local intelligence despite their attempts to disable the home's CCTV cameras. Along with Harsh, the police arrested three other individuals, including a girlfriend and a jeweler who facilitated the sale of the stolen ornaments. The recovered items include the luxury car bought with the crime proceeds and various pieces of high-end jewelry. The City DSP stated that the successful resolution of this case highlights the efficiency of the specialized task force in tackling organized domestic thefts. The accused are currently in judicial custody.
