Ranchi Rescue Teams Recover Bodies After Tank Collapse

In a grim turn of events on Wednesday evening, a water tank situated behind the Kotwali police station in Ranchi collapsed, resulting in the death of two workers. The tank, described as heavily corroded, gave way without warning, burying the men under concrete and metal fragments.

Police, municipal officials and the local civic body mobilised quickly. JCB excavators were employed to dismantle the wreckage. The first body was retrieved during the early stages of the operation, and a second was located after a systematic search of the remaining debris.

The incident has sparked calls for stricter monitoring of aging infrastructure. Investigators are examining maintenance records and the conditions that led to the sudden failure of the tank.
