Ranchi Father Files FIR Over Daughter’s Illegal Detention in Dubai

Ranchi police have registered a first‑information report after a father approached the Airport Police Station with an alarming claim: his daughter is being held hostage in Dubai. Monica Kachhap, originally from the Chota Ghaghara area, was promised a high‑paying job in the United Arab Emirates by agents claiming to work for AMD Trade Solution.

The deception began when Monica paid ₹15,000 as a processing fee to a recruiter named Priyanka. She was later flown from Delhi to Sharjah on May 5, and upon arrival her passport was seized by a driver employed by the same group. The next day she was taken to Ajman, forced to sign Arabic contracts with her thumbprint and deprived of her mobile phone.

She was placed in a private home where she was tasked with cleaning and caregiving duties, enduring physical abuse and severe mental strain. When she pleaded for repatriation, the scammers threatened her with a demand of 12,600 dirhams and warned that refusal would lead to a lifetime sentence in a Dubai jail.

The father, Ratna Kachhap, filed a written complaint, stating, "Sir, my daughter is a hostage in Dubai; please rescue her." The police have taken cognizance of fraud, human trafficking and unlawful detention, and have coordinated with the Indian embassy to initiate consular assistance. The family has also sent an urgent appeal to the Ministry of External Affairs for her safe return.
