A contingent from Kasturba Gandhi Balika Awasiya Vidyalaya, Catha, Ramgarh, has earned a commendable silver medal at the state-level school band competition organized by the Jharkhand Education Project Council, Ranchi. The impressive event took place at the Birsa Munda Athletics Stadium in Khelgaon, under the purview of the Department of School Education and Literacy, Government of Jharkhand. The 25-member team, led by band captain Rani Kumari, delivered a stellar performance in the pipe band category, clinching the second position statewide. Their performance featured a captivating display of patriotic tunes, resonating with the audience and judges alike. District Education Officer Kumari Neelam lauded the achievement, highlighting it as a proud moment for Ramgarh. She attributed the success to the collective hard work of education department officials, physical education teachers, and the entire Kasturba team. District Education Superintendent Sanjeet Kumar echoed these sentiments, expressing confidence in the girls’ capabilities and anticipating even greater achievements in the future, with ‘Khel Jharkhand’ fostering significant growth among students. He emphasized the inspirational impact of this silver medal win on future participants. Assistant District Project Officer Nalini Ranjan credited Subedar Major Kulwant Singh of the Sikh Regimental Centre, Ramgarh, for providing specialized training that was instrumental to the team’s success. He sees this as the beginning of a new era of band performance for Ramgarh, with aspirations for gold medals in the coming years. Plans are also underway to establish band teams in all district schools, expanding opportunities beyond the current Kasturba Gandhi Balika Awasiya Vidyalaya base.
