Rain and Thunderstorms Expected in Jharkhand Until July 8

A yellow alert has been declared for Jharkhand as the monsoon system re‑intensifies, bringing the prospect of heavy rain and lightning from July 5 through July 8. The forecast lists several districts that could face significant precipitation during this interval.

On July 5, the southwestern districts of Gumla, Simdega, Khunti and West Singhbhum may witness isolated heavy showers. The situation escalates on July 6, with Simdega, Gumla, Lohardaga, Latehar, Garhwa and Palamu slated for more widespread rain. By July 7, rain is anticipated across West Singhbhum, Gumla, Simdega, Khunti, Lohardaga and selected parts of Ranchi.

Authorities caution that these conditions could trigger water‑logging, swift surface runoff and thunderstorm‑related hazards. The department advises people in rural locales, agricultural workers and those stationed in open areas to move to safer indoor locations until the weather stabilises.

Recent measurements show Bolba in Simdega receiving 51.6 mm of rain in the last day. Temperature extremes ranged from a high of 35.6 °C in Pakur to a low of 21.6 °C in Latehar. In Ranchi, the day’s temperature swung between 30.6 °C and 23.4 °C.

Other key cities logged maximum temperatures of 33.2 °C in Jamshedpur, 35.0 °C in Daltonganj, 33.1 °C in Bokaro Thermal and 32.4 °C in Chaibasa, with night‑time lows staying above 25 °C. The weather agency urges the public to avoid unnecessary travel, refrain from standing under trees or open spaces during lightning, and follow every subsequent advisory.
