Police Reveal Car Owner Behind Ransom‑Free Insurance Fraud in Jharkhand

Jharkhand police have disclosed that the alleged theft of a high‑value SUV in Ranchi was fabricated by the vehicle's own owner. Prince Kumar filed a First Information Report (FIR) at Ratu police station claiming his car was stolen on the night of August 31.

Through a blend of technical forensics, location tracking, and human sources, investigators concluded that the claim was a ruse designed to obtain the four‑lakh‑rupee insurance sum. Records showed Kumar previously sold the same SUV to a scrap dealer for roughly one lakh rupees, making the theft claim financially motivated.

The SUV was later seized from a different police jurisdiction, confirming the deception. The case has been forwarded to the district court for final adjudication, and officials have warned motorists about similar fraudulent practices.
