Police Probe Possible Ritual Killing after Female Body Discovered Near Chatania Bridge
In the forested area of Dhanbad's Balipur thana, authorities are investigating a potential ritual homicide after the dismembered remains of a woman were recovered on Friday. The head was found wrapped in a plastic bag, while the torso lay at another spot nearby. Onlookers reported that incense sticks and other worship paraphernalia were present at the location, leading to speculation about a human sacrifice. The body was first reported by local resident Kishore Kumar Mahato, who noticed a woman's foot on the ground while walking to the woods. The incident drew a sizeable gathering of villagers, and the police swiftly took custody of the remains. Preliminary statements from ASI Ashok Kumar suggest the victim is approximately 30 years old, though her identity is still unknown. To aid the inquiry, a forensic science laboratory (FSL) team and a canine squad from Ranchi have been summoned to conduct detailed examinations and gather forensic evidence.
