Police probe after JCB burned during western Singhbhum road construction

Police authorities have opened a formal investigation after a JCB excavator was torched at a road‑building site in the Teabo block of western Singhbhum.

The incident occurred late Saturday, when a group of unidentified persons targeted the machine that had just arrived from a contractor to resume stalled work on the Teabo‑Halmad stretch.

Witnesses said the fire erupted instantly, and fear among the nearby community stopped anyone from attempting to put it out.

Senior officer Amit Renu dispatched a team that included the SDPO of Chakradharpur and the Teabo police in‑charge to the scene for detailed forensic analysis.

Investigators are weighing the possibility of a levy‑related act, but they have not yet established a concrete link.

The road, expected to improve transportation and trade for several villages, now faces potential setbacks as the investigation proceeds.

Police have assured the public that they will track down the perpetrators and take strict action once the inquiry concludes.
