Police Detain Accused Under POCSO After Victim Reports Sexual Abuse and Threats
Following a detailed complaint by a minor from Lohardaga who was training for an airline‑hostess role in Ranchi, the Jharkhand police have filed a case under the POCSO Act against Sudhanshu Pandey, a resident of Chitarpur in Ramgarh district. The girl alleged that Pandey invited her to his apartment, served a narcotic‑infused cold drink, and subsequently assaulted her while she was unconscious. He also recorded a pornographic video of the act and threatened to leak it, thereby subjecting the victim to repeated sexual exploitation and severe mental trauma.
The victim’s family reported the matter to the Lohardaga Sadar police station, prompting the authorities to act swiftly. Apart from the POCSO provisions, investigators have invoked sections related to drug administration, kidnapping, and criminal intimidation. The police have confiscated the suspect’s mobile phone, are processing forensic data, and have begun a comprehensive inquiry into the digital evidence that could substantiate the allegations.
Law enforcement officials emphasized that any attempt to exploit a minor, especially through blackmail or the circulation of obscene material, will be met with the full force of the law. The case remains under active investigation, with further arrests anticipated if additional conspirators are identified.
