Ojha Guni Suspicion Behind Palamu Murder, Accused Flees With Family

A man in Palamu district allegedly killed his neighbour over suspicions of black magic, in another case highlighting the grip of superstition in parts of Jharkhand. The incident occurred in Mangardiha village, under Shahpur panchayat of the Naudiha Bazar police station area. The accused, Mahant Ram, reportedly entered the house of Sitaram Ravidas and cut his throat with a sharp weapon. Sitaram had been living in the village for around 40 years. Police said the motive was rooted in a belief that Sitaram had used occult practices that led to the death of Mahant Ram's son, Vivek.
