Memorandum of Understanding with SRFTI Marks New Era for Jharkhand Cinema

A landmark MoU between the Jharkhand Film Development Corporation Limited and the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute (SRFTI) was signed this week, signaling a strategic move to elevate the state’s film ecosystem. The agreement, hailed by Chief Minister Hemant Soren as a historic moment, will enable Jharkhand’s filmmakers to access SRFTI’s curriculum, equipment, and global network.

The partnership aims to nurture local talent by offering professional workshops, state‑of‑the‑art post‑production facilities, and opportunities to exhibit work on a national platform. Soren highlighted that the state has already produced award‑winning content, mentioning the Santali short film “Aangen,” which recently garnered a national accolade. He added that with the support of JFTI, more such recognitions are expected.

The MoU also opens doors for collaborative projects between Jharkhand’s creators and SRFTI’s faculty, fostering a cross‑regional exchange of ideas. This initiative aligns with the government’s broader vision of positioning Jharkhand as a knowledge‑based, culturally rich state with a thriving creative economy.
