Tragedy has struck Kosiyara village in Palamu’s Chainpur police station area as the body of 10-year-old Ritu Kumari, who had been missing for two days, was recovered from a well. Ritu, daughter of Ram Vinay Chaurasia, was last seen on Friday evening. She had reportedly gone to the fields to deliver food for her sister and never returned. Her distraught family searched for her extensively and filed a missing person report with the Chainpur police. During the search, her body was discovered in a well. Local MLA Alok Chaurasia rushed to the scene upon hearing the news. He alerted the police, who, with assistance, retrieved the body from the well. Preliminary police investigations suggest foul play, with authorities suspecting that criminal elements murdered the child and disposed of her body in the well. The MLA expressed deep sorrow over the incident and has demanded a swift and impartial investigation from the police, urging for the swift apprehension and stringent punishment of those responsible for this heinous crime. Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation, leaving the community in shock and anger. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination.
