Many tasks to be undertaken to strengthen the cooperative system

The fourth meeting of the State Cooperative Development Committee was held on Friday under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary, Government of Jharkhand-cum-Chairman, State Cooperative Development Committee. A total of 15 important agendas related to the expansion, modernization, diversification, and institutional strengthening of the cooperative sector in Jharkhand were discussed in the meeting. Discussions were held on the computerization of PACS under the centrally sponsored scheme, selection of districts and MPCS for the pilot project of the world's largest decentralized food storage scheme, formation of at least two milk and fishery producer cooperative societies at the Panchayat or Gram level every month in each district and block, and implementation of various initiatives of "Sahakar se Samriddhi" by cooperative banks. Besides, the development of PACS/MPCS as Common Service Centres (CSC) and Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samriddhi Kendras, establishment of a three-tier structure for milk producers and fishery cooperative societies, and starting a Deposit Mobilization Scheme in 240 computerized MPCS were considered. Furthermore, the computerization of the offices of the Registrar, Cooperative Societies, and the proposed Jharkhand State Cooperative Policy were also discussed in detail. The committee was apprised of the current status of all proposals in the meeting. After a detailed review of each agenda, necessary decisions were taken, and the concerned departments and officials were directed to ensure timely and effective compliance of the assigned tasks. The meeting was attended by the Secretary, Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Cooperative Department, Secretary, SCDC, Finance Department, Revenue, Registration and Land Reforms Department, Food, Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs Department, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Jharkhand State Cooperative Bank, Chief Executive Officer of Dhanbad Central Cooperative Bank, and representatives from other concerned corporations, NABARD, and other relevant institutions.
