Latehar Tragedy: Auto-Container Impact Claims Seven Lives

A devastating collision between an auto‑rickshaw and a freight container near Dehṛṭangwa valley in Chandwa, Latehar district, resulted in seven fatalities on Saturday. The auto, carrying five passengers, was struck with such force that it was rendered unusable, and two motorcyclists nearby were also killed.

Rescue efforts began immediately as locals arrived, and police later joined to assist in extricating the bodies. The injured were transported to the closest hospital for urgent care. Traffic on the affected stretch was temporarily halted while investigators documented the scene.

Authorities have opened a case to uncover why the vehicles met. Possibilities under review include excessive speed, poor road surface, or an abrupt maneuver. The tragedy has left the community in shock, and officials are coordinating with families to provide necessary information and support.
