Lack of doctors, ambulances hampers services at Saraikela‑Kharsawan’s old hospital

The existing sub‑district hospital in Chandal continues to struggle with severe staffing shortages. Official estimates indicate that around 13 qualified doctors are required to run the facility efficiently, but the current roster falls far short of that number. The scarcity of medical personnel forces patients to wait longer for consultations and procedures. In addition, ambulance services are inadequate; only a single ambulance has been reported to be operational, leaving many emergency cases without timely transport. The combination of insufficient doctors and limited emergency transport has heightened community frustration, especially as the newer, fully equipped hospital remains unopened.
