Koel River Floods Claim Lives of Four Schoolboys, Search Ongoing for Fifth

The Koel River, swollen by recent rains, became the site of a fatal accident in the Bokeia Patariya hamlet of Palamu. Five school‑age boys attempted a ritual immersion when the river’s current turned deadly. Four of them – Nitesh, Amit, Raja and Vishal – were pulled from the water but had already succumbed to injuries. Their teammate, Hemant, could not be located, prompting an intensive search operation by Chainpur police and volunteers.
