The renowned Samanta Kali Mandir in Jhumri Tilaiya, Koderma, recently hosted its annual grand Kali Puja, drawing a massive crowd and filling the air with devotional chants. The temple premises were beautifully adorned with colorful lights, creating a festive atmosphere eagerly anticipated by devotees across the district. This significant religious event has been a continuous tradition since 1967, when the temple was established by the late Gangadhar Samanta, a prominent mica trader and social activist, and grandfather of the current organizers. The puja commenced with elaborate rituals, including a sacred ‘havan’ (fire ceremony), attracting a large number of participants, particularly women, who actively engaged in the prayers. The temple’s enduring grandeur was evident, adding to the spiritual significance of the occasion. Key figures, including Utpal Samanta, Indrani Samanta, and Gautam Samanta, along with local dignitaries and business leaders, were present to partake in the festivities and honor the divine mother.
