The political atmosphere in Jharkhand has heated up following Union Minister Ramdas Athawale’s suggestion that Chief Minister Hemant Soren should join the NDA. The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) responded with sharp criticism, with General Secretary Supriyo Bhattacharya labeling Athawale as a ‘joker in a political circus.’ Bhattacharya questioned whether a sitting Union Minister should be making such statements, implying that they sounded like veiled threats to the state government. Jharkhand’s Health Minister Irfan Ansari also weighed in, accusing the NDA of employing tactics to destabilize the regional administration. Despite the fierce backlash from the ruling coalition, Athawale maintained his stance, claiming that political continuity and state development are best achieved under the NDA’s banner.
