District-wise Breakdown of Road Accident Deaths in Jharkhand, Jan-Jun 2026
Ranchi recorded the highest number of collisions – 408 accidents with 286 deaths – during the first half of 2026. The district of Dhanbad followed with 208 crashes and 118 fatalities, while Hazaribagh saw 195 incidents and 163 deaths.
Giridih reported 194 accidents causing 180 fatalities, and Gumla logged 150 crashes with a striking 136 deaths. Other districts with notable loss of life include Palamu (170 crashes, 135 deaths), Bokaro (169 crashes, 125 deaths), and East Singhbhum (166 crashes, 117 deaths).
Smaller districts such as Lohardaga, Kodarma, Jamtara, and Pakur also contributed to the overall toll, each reporting more deaths than the number of accidents would suggest, highlighting a possible severity gap.
