Jharkhand’s 2026 Surrender Record Shows Over Fifty Naxals Returning

The year 2026 has witnessed an unprecedented wave of Naxal surrender in Jharkhand. Security agencies recorded historic milestones that underline the effectiveness of the ongoing clean‑sweep operation.

On 21 May 2026, a historic moment unfolded when 27 Naxals – 25 members of the CPI(Maoist) and 2 from the JMM‑aligned faction – stood before DGP Tadasha Mishra at the police headquarters and laid down their arms.

A second major surrender took place on 28 July 2026, when 16 more insurgents presented themselves at the same headquarters, handing over a large cache of weapons and ammunition.

Overall, more than 50 Naxal cadres have rejoined mainstream society since the start of 2026, marking the highest surrender tally in the state’s recent history.

In a related crackdown on 29 July 2026, intelligence led to the arrest of five top‑ranked Naxals, including a high‑profile CPI(Maoist) police‑bureau member, from the Barwadda police station area in Dhanbad. The operation netted assets worth INR 2.2 crore.

Security officials now claim that the final circle of operations aimed at the six remaining fugitives in Palamu, Garhwa and Latehar is set, and the declaration of a completely Naxal‑free Jharkhand is imminent.
