Jamtara Horror: Nine Children Lose Mother in Brutal Domestic Murder

A horrifying incident of domestic violence has been reported from Nauhathiya village in Jamtara district, Jharkhand. A quarrel that began over preparing food ended in the death of a mother of nine, and her husband is now under police custody.

The incident falls under the Narayanpur police station area. The deceased, Basanti Devi, was killed in the early hours after a heated exchange with her husband, Manoj Rajwar, during the night.

People familiar with the couple said frequent disputes over household issues were common in the home. On Thursday night, an argument broke out while cooking. Police and local residents report that Manoj first gave his wife an electric shock using a live wire. Once she was incapacitated, he attacked her repeatedly with a sharp axe from inside the house.

After the attack, the accused tried to end his life by stabbing himself with a knife. He suffered serious injuries and was taken for treatment.

The family is in deep grief. The couple had nine children, two of whom are married. The remaining seven children have been left distraught by the loss of their mother, while their father lies in hospital.

On Friday morning, relatives and villagers became aware of the crime and immediately alerted the police. Narayanpur police reached the spot, detained the injured accused and sent him to the district hospital. The deceased woman's body was taken into custody and dispatched for postmortem. The crime scene has been sealed to secure evidence.

The police are continuing their probe into the case and are trying to establish the root cause of the murder.
