Railway authorities have initiated a high-level investigation into a collision between the Gonda-Asansol Express and a rice-laden truck at the Rohini-Nawadih level crossing in Jharkhand. Preliminary reports suggest a possible lapse in communication or signaling, as the gateman on duty claimed that no signal had been granted for the train to pass due to heavy road traffic at the crossing. Despite this, the express train arrived on the Down line and struck the truck which was stranded on the tracks. Senior officials from the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and the local Jasidih police reached the spot shortly after the accident to manage the burgeoning crowds and secure the perimeter. Technical teams were deployed to assess the integrity of the tracks and the overhead equipment. Railway administration has confirmed that the probe will look into multiple factors, including the gateman’s role and the signaling system’s performance.
