Illegal Gas Racket Busted in West Singhbhum; 14 Seized

In a significant move to curb the illegal sale and refilling of LPG cylinders, authorities in Chaibasa carried out a major raid at a business premise in Madhu Bazar this Saturday. The action was spearheaded by SDM Sandeep Anurag Tepno under the direct supervision of DC Chandan Kumar. The raid followed intelligence reports suggesting that a local grocery store was involved in the black marketing of domestic gas cylinders and the illegal transfer of gas, a practice that is both illegal and highly flammable. The enforcement team, which included local police and supply department officials, recovered 14 cylinders from the site. This haul included 10 cylinders that were ready for illegal sale and four empty ones. The authorities also found various tools used for the decanting of gas. SDM Tepno stated that the safety of the citizens and the integrity of the supply chain are his top priorities. He added that such illegal operations create artificial shortages and endanger the neighborhood. An FIR has been lodged against the owner of the establishment under the provisions of the Essential Commodities Act. This raid is part of a broader initiative by the district administration to eliminate unfair trade practices and protect consumer rights.
