Husband Detained After Woman's Decomposed Body Found in Home
Police in Jharkhand have detained a man for questioning after the decomposed body of his missing wife was found buried under a room in their home in Tungi village, West Singhbhum district.
The woman, Gurwari Hansda, had been missing for nearly four days when her daughters noticed blood stains on a wall inside the house. Growing concern led them to tell villagers, who then informed the police. The Pandrasali Outpost team reached the spot and began checking the premises.
Body recovered during digging
Since the matter was considered grave, police conducted an excavation of the floor of the suspected room in the presence of a magistrate. The digging led to the discovery of a woman's body buried underground. The body was badly decomposed, and the news quickly spread through the village, bringing a crowd to the house.
Police have sent the body to Chaibasa Sadar Hospital for a postmortem examination. They are working to determine how and when the woman died and why her remains were placed inside the room.
Details of the detention
Ram Hansda, the woman's husband, has been taken into custody. Officials say early indications point to a possible murder following a domestic dispute. However, police have not yet confirmed the cause or motive behind the incident. The investigation is focusing on his involvement and on other relevant aspects of the case.
Answers likely from postmortem
Police are gathering evidence to answer several pressing questions, including when the killing took place, who buried the body, and whether domestic conflict was the trigger. Officials say the postmortem report and the final investigation will be needed before the true cause of death can be established. Police stress that every possibility is being examined.
