Human Trafficking Bust: Bihar‑bound Minors Freed by Palamu Police
Palamu police disrupted a human‑trafficking network after a tip about children being shipped to Bihar for seasonal farming. In a night‑time operation, officers seized 27 minors from the Padwa and Nawabazar beats, preventing their forced participation in paddy planting at Sasaram.
All rescued individuals are from Latehar’s Manika area. Authorities allege the traffickers used the pretext of legitimate farm work to move the children across state lines.
The girls have been admitted to a dedicated women’s protection center, and the boys are now under the supervision of a child welfare institution. The Child Welfare Committee has filed legal charges, and its member Ravi Shankar confirmed that relatives were also implicated.
Investigators have detained multiple suspects from Bihar and are preparing robust legal action to dismantle the entire trafficking operation.
