In a fiery address at Koderma’s Lokai grounds, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha chief and CM Hemant Soren accused the Union Budget of sidelining his mineral-rich state. ‘Jharkhand’s contributions power the nation, but we get nothing in return,’ he thundered to an enthusiastic crowd.
The state, carved out after decades of agitation, has supplied coal, iron ore, and mica to industrial hubs nationwide. Soren warned that curbing these outflows would cripple India’s economy, underscoring Jharkhand’s pivotal role.
Reflecting on history, he invoked the tribal freedom fighters who challenged colonial rule long before national independence. Jails overflowed with agitators, culminating in statehood 25 years ago. Yet, prosperity bypassed locals; factories sprouted, jobs went elsewhere, enforcing poverty to feed migrant labor demands.
Soren highlighted his government’s turnaround: elevating Jharkhand internationally, empowering youth through education abroad, and rolling out welfare like Kishori Samriddhi Yojana. The Koderma rally inducted fresh faces, boosting JMM’s local footprint.
Minister Sonu celebrated 2024’s electoral mandate for Soren, predicting visible transformations in Koderma. New joiner Shalini Gupta spoke of renewed vigor after years of toil, firmly stating Jharkhand belongs to its sons of the soil.
The CM’s visit featured ceremonial welcomes: a sapling from the DC and honors at JJ College helipad. Key figures like SP Anudeep Singh and leaders thronged the venue. This event signals Jharkhand’s resolve for equitable growth amid central apathy.
