In a move to preserve the unity of the ruling alliance, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has accepted a proposal to split the two Rajya Sabha seats with the Congress party. The decision follows a series of high-level meetings between Soren and Congress observers Bhupesh Baghel and Ajay Sharma. The tension had initially flared up when JMM leaders accused the Congress of making unilateral decisions regarding candidate nominations. By agreeing to a one-one formula, the coalition partners have managed to avoid a public fallout that could have benefitted the opposition. To mark the agreement and strategize for the voting process, the Chief Minister has organized a dinner for all coalition legislators, signaling a return to normalcy within the state's political ranks.
