Health Drive in Chaibasa: Over 600 Detainees Swear Off Drugs

In a concerted effort to eradicate substance abuse, the NashaMukt Bharat bus tour arrived in Chaibasa, western Singhbhum, on Thursday. The mission, funded with a ten‑crore budget and coordinated by the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Narcotics Control Bureau, focuses on educating the public about the dangers of drug consumption.

The convoy was greeted at the historic Rungta House by businessman and philanthropist Mukund Rungta, who lauded the initiative for its potential to empower citizens with knowledge and encouragement toward a sober lifestyle.

The bus then proceeded to Chaibasa Jail, where more than 600 prisoners collectively pledged to stay away from intoxicants. Parallel to this, the campaign team visited a series of schools—DAV Chaibasa, Rungta School, Padmavati Jain School, Scott Girls’ Middle and Higher School, and Bengali School—conducting interactive sessions that highlighted the physical, mental, and social repercussions of drug use.

Ward councilors of the Chaibasa Municipal Corporation delivered the anti‑addiction message, followed by a reception from the Marwari Mahila Manch at Rajasthan Bhawan. Lawyers at the District Bar Association also echoed the call for a drug‑free community.

Students from Einstein Coaching and Do The Math Coaching added their voices, committing to a life free from substance abuse.

Rajyogini Brahmakumari Anju DiDi, director of the Brahmakumari Jamshidpur region, emphasized that every individual possesses an inner reservoir of strength capable of breaking harmful habits. She encouraged participants to rely on self‑belief and spiritual guidance to overcome addiction, describing the tour as a catalyst for lasting change rather than a mere awareness campaign.

The organizers appealed to Chaibasa residents to travel to the central hub for free detoxification, stress‑relief, and Rajyog meditation services, reinforcing the campaign’s slogan: one pledge, a drug‑free life, healthier families, and a stronger India.
