Gold medal victory at Asian Games prompts meeting between Jharkhand players and Soren
Ranchi – After clinching the top podium spot at the Asian Games, the Jharkhand women’s hockey representatives visited Chief Minister Hemant Soren at his official residence. The team, led by captain Salima Tete and featuring Nikky Pradhan, Beauty Dongdong and Deepika Soren, recounted their preparation strategies and the challenges they overcame.
The Chief Minister inquired about their training schedules, nutrition plans, and mental conditioning, acknowledging the role of disciplined effort in achieving gold. He presented each athlete with a traditional shawl and served sweets to celebrate the momentous occasion.
Soren remarked that the gold medal strengthens Jharkhand’s reputation in Indian sports and encourages the next generation of athletes, especially girls, to pursue competitive hockey. He reaffirmed the state’s commitment to nurturing sporting talent through better facilities and scholarships.
Accompanying the ceremony were DG Vijay Shankar Singh of Jharkhand Hockey, wrestling coach‑co‑CEO Rajnish Kumar, and General Secretary Manoj Kumar Prasad, who all extended their congratulations.
