Former JPSC Chairman Faces Fourth CID Interrogation Over Leak

The Crime Investigation Department (CID) of Jharkhand has completed a fourth round of questioning with former JPSC chairman L. Khiangte regarding the ongoing paper‑leak scandal. Earlier interrogations took place on July 28 for nine hours, and on July 29 and 31 for eight hours each.

Khiangte, who retired from the post of chief secretary in February 2025 before being appointed JPSC chair, stepped down from his role on July 22, claiming the resignation was voluntary to ensure an unbiased inquiry. He reaffirmed this stance on July 27.

CID’s broader raids across 18 locations, including the state capital and districts such as Bokaro, Palamu, Hazaribagh and Dhanbad, uncovered critical evidence: original OMR answer sheets, admit cards, mark sheets, laptops, mobile phones, and financial documents.

One of the most significant discoveries was at Patanjali Academy, a coaching centre in Ranchi, where draft answer sheets were allegedly compiled before being handed over to examinees. The raid also extended to the residence of former TDPL marketing manager Abhay Tiwari in Deoghar, with investigators still seeking a relative, Saurav Tiwari, linked to the operation.

Since the leak was first reported, eleven individuals have been arrested and the JPSC Combined Civil Service main exam was temporarily halted pending a thorough investigation.
