Film Festival and Master Class to be organized at Adivasi Mahotsav
Students will get an opportunity to learn filmmaking
Ranchi:- Under the upcoming Adivasi Mahotsav-2026, Jharkhand Film Development Corporation Limited (JFFDCL) will organize a special Film Festival and Master Class on August 9 at Morabadi Maidan, Ranchi. On this occasion, students from universities and colleges of the state will get an opportunity to learn about filmmaking, visual storytelling, and the nuances of the media industry.
In this regard, Jharkhand Film Development Corporation has sent a letter to the Vice-Chancellor of Vinoba Bhave University, Hazaribagh, inviting participation in the program. It has also been requested that at least 50 students from the university studying Mass Communication, Journalism, Media Studies, Film Studies, Performing Arts, Visual Communication, and related subjects be nominated and sent to the program.
During the Film Festival, films based on tribal life, indigenous culture, social concerns, and excellent cinema will be screened. A special master class will be organized on the topic "Filmmaking and Career Opportunities in the Film Industry." This will be conducted by experts and professors from the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute (SRFTI), Kolkata.
In the master class, participants will be given detailed information about the fundamental techniques of filmmaking, visual storytelling, scriptwriting, direction, cinematography, editing, sound design, and emerging career opportunities in the film, television, OTT, and digital content industries. Experts will also provide guidance on higher education and employment prospects in the field of cinema and media.
Jharkhand Film Development Corporation believes that this program will provide young people with a practical understanding of the film and media industry, as well as new opportunities for creative expression. This initiative organized during the Adivasi Mahotsav will prove to be an important learning and career-building platform for the state's young media and film students. It is known that on July 22, in the presence of Chief Minister Hemant Soren, an MoU was signed between Jharkhand State Film Development Corporation and Satyajit Ray Film Institute Kolkata at the local Suchana Bhavan regarding the establishment of a film institute.
